a 12-week cohort journey

Story, Sorrow & Song

This 12-week cohort journey is designed to help you explore stories of suffering and celebration from your life—through guided reflection, narrative storytelling, lament, and redemptive practices. Each week will build upon the last, and you’ll be gently supported as you write and engage your story at your own pace.

Beginning August 21st at 1 pm (CDT), we'll meet once a week (there are one or two weeks that we'll skip to have some more time to do some personal work).  Please note that some sessions are 75–90 minutes to give space for deeper work. All other sessions are one hour.

What if your wounds could become windows to God's redemptive work?

Many of us carry untold stories—moments of pain, loss, betrayal, or abandonment—that still shape how we see God, others, and ourselves. The Story, Sorrow & Song Course provides a guided journey to name these moments, write your story, and lament the losses. As you move through each week, you'll find healing in the presence of Jesus and trusted community.

What to Expect

Over 12 weeks, you’ll engage in a sacred rhythm of story, reflection, lament, and healing. You’ll be gently guided through:

  • Identifying significant wounds or losses in your story

  • Writing and sharing your narrative in a safe community

  • Lamenting with biblical frameworks and Spirit-led compassion

  • Engaging Christ’s presence in your pain through Immanuel journaling

  • Experiencing movement from fragmentation to wholeness and healing

This course is not group therapy. It is a spiritually and emotionally safe place for Christian women to process personal pain with the help of a trained facilitator, grounded in Scripture, trauma-informed principles, and the healing heart of Jesus.

Do You Feel Stuck in Your Story?
You're not alone.

Many people long for healing but don’t know where to begin. Maybe you sense there are wounds shaping how you relate to God, others, and yourself—but naming them feels overwhelming. You might wonder:

  • Where do I even start with my story?

  • What do I do once I remember something painful?

  • How do I actually lament, biblically, intentionally, and personally?

  • What happens after I grieve—how do I move forward?

These are holy questions. And they deserve gentle, gospel-centered guidance.

This Course is for You If...
  • You’ve tried journaling or counseling, but still feel stuck in the pain.

  • You sense unhealed wounds beneath your anxiety, disconnection, or shame.

  • You’ve never been taught how to grieve in a way that invites Jesus in.

  • You’re longing to move from just “coping” to being restored.

The Story, Sorrow & Song Cohort Experience offers a clear, compassionate framework for navigating these deep places—rooted in the redemptive story of Christ and guided by a trauma-informed process. You won’t have to figure it out alone.

Introducing

 Story, Sorrow & Song

What if your story of wounding became a doorway to deeper intimacy with Jesus? In this 12-week cohort experience, you’ll learn to name your story, lament what was lost, and find healing through Christ’s presence and shared community. Because the places you’ve been hurt are not the end of the story—they’re where redemption has already begun.

By the end of our time together, you'll be able to...

Begin engaging your story with clarity and care.

You’ll be provided with tools and practices to help identify key moments of suffering and celebration. Though you have many stories, we'll intentionally choose one to work with in hopes that you'll be able to engage more on your own in the future.

Grow in understanding what is underneath your heartache.

Through some teaching and guided reflection, you’ll see how your story has formed your beliefs, behaviors, and relational patterns. We'll discover the myths you've been believing and how God wants to meet you there.

Learn how to lament with honesty and hope.

You’ll be guided in the practice of biblical lament, which is not a performance but a prayer. We'll work toward the particularities—expressing sorrow and anchoring your heart in truth.

Discover the invitation of Christ through imaginative journaling and guided practices.

You’ll close the story journey by encountering Christ’s presence in your pain, re-storying with Him, and practicing what it means to live as one being made whole.

Is this group counseling or therapy?

No, this is not a substitute for counseling or therapy. It is a structured storywork, lament, and spiritual formation cohort and course facilitated by a trauma-informed biblical counselor.

When we engage our stories, we often uncover things we weren't aware we needed to work through. If deeper therapeutic needs arise, we can help you find additional support. If you are already in a relationship with a counselor, you may want to bring this up to them to help support you as you move through this journey.

Is this exhaustive?

Engaging storywork, lament, and journeying to wholeness is a lifelong pursuit. I hope to offer you a pathway toward that end, but this is not exhaustive. Meaning: by the end of our time together, you're likely to know more about your story and suffering and more about the stories and suffering that still need to be touched by the healing power of Christ. This is a beginning.

All About Christie Lacy & Story, Sorrow & Song

I’m a biblical counselor, storywork companion, and someone who deeply believes that the places we want to hide are often the very places where Christ desires to meet us with compassion and restoration.

I created this offering out of a burden I’ve carried—for the women who feel stuck in silent pain, for the ones who don’t know where to begin, and for those who were never taught that lament is not weakness but worship.

Through years of sitting with stories (my own and others'), I’ve witnessed this truth repeatedly: Naming your story in the presence of God and others can become a means of healing and hope.

This course is not just content—it’s a guided pilgrimage into the heartache, beauty, and redemption woven into your story. My prayer is that you’ll find not only clarity but connection, not only grief but grace.

You are not too broken to be healed. And you don’t have to do this alone.

I am certified through the Association of Biblical Counselors and have specialized training in:

  • Narrative-Focused Trauma Care (NFTC-I)
  • Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)—an attachment-based, trauma-informed approach designed for vulnerable children
  • Level 2 Certified Christian Trauma Care Provider (CCTCP-II)
  • Certified Enneagram Coach (YEC)

I have been there before—holding stories in my heart, but not knowing how to engage them safely and wisely, not knowing what to do with the emotions I'm feeling, and not knowing how to grieve well.

It wasn't until I started engaging my story in a guided rhythm that I began noticing myths that have kept me from moving forward. My hope for this experience is that you'll gain insight and tools to help you engage your own stories for years to come.

healing happens in the presence of others

You Weren't Meant to Do This Alone

the cohort experience

One of the most powerful aspects of this course is the cohort experience—a small, trusted group of women who are also engaging their stories with honesty and courage. As you walk this 12-week journey, you’ll find that your story is not too much. You’ll witness the beauty of shared sorrow, the gift of listening, and the freedom of being heard without fixing.

Together, we’ll create a space where:

  • We name with words what we haven't been able to before

  • Rather than isolation, we offer presence

  • Each story is honored, not rushed or dismissed

  • We practice being the body of Christ to one another

This isn’t group therapy or counseling—it’s a facilitated community of story-honoring women, guided by clear structure, gentle practices, and gospel hope. You’ll be invited to share, but never pressured. You’ll be given tools, but not left alone to figure out how to use them.

In the presence of Jesus and others, your story begins to change.
