a 5-week storywork examen

 Advent as Sacred Remembering

This 5-week Advent journey invites you to slow down and remember your year through the practice of storywork and examen. Together, we’ll trace the themes of hope, peace, joy, and love as they’ve unfolded in your own story—through guided reflection, prayer, and gentle storytelling. Each week builds upon the last, helping you discern where Christ has met you in both sorrow and celebration, and preparing your heart for His coming with renewed faith, peace joy.

Beginning November 24th at 1 pm (CST), we'll meet once a week on Mondays through Advent.  All sessions are approximately one hour. When you join, you will receive access to the resources, prompts, recordings, and community for three months.

Give yourself the gift of slowing down and tend to the story that God has written this year.

Make space this season to slow down, reflect, and be renewed. In this season of waiting, step away from the noise and tend to the story God has been writing in your life this year. Through guided reflection, storywork, and the quiet rhythm of the examen, you’ll begin to see His presence woven through both the sorrow and the joy. Come, make space to remember—because Christ invites us to draw near, receive rest, and find peace.

The Practice of Examen

The Examen is a time-tested rhythm of prayerful reflection that helps you look back over your days—and, in this season, your year—with God. Born out of the Ignatian tradition, it nurtures a posture of awareness, allowing you to recognize moments of grace, name places of distance, and trace the quiet movement of the Holy Spirit through it all. Over time, the practice cultivates a deeper sensitivity to God’s nearness in both the seen and unseen. During Advent, the Examen offers breathing room in the midst of hurry—an invitation to awaken to Christ’s presence and power within the unfolding story of your life.

The Practice of Storywork

Storywork invites you to engage the narrative of your life with curiosity, honesty, and compassion. As you reflect on the beauty, ache, loss, and joy that have shaped you, you begin to recognize the redemptive thread of God’s love woven through each moment. The stories you carry—your longings, your wounds, your hopes—give space for an encounter with the Lord. During Advent, storywork becomes a way of preparing room in your heart: noticing where you have waited, how you have been met, and where divine love is still moving to bring healing and new life.

When Storywork Meets Examen

When storywork and the Examen intertwine, reflection deepens into communion. Together they form a sacred conversation—where your remembering meets God’s remembering of you. Through this prayerful attentiveness, you begin to see your life through the light of Advent’s promises: hope renewed, peace restored, joy awakened, and love made flesh. The meeting of these two practices becomes an invitation to live wide awake to Christ’s faithful presence woven through every part of your story and days.

About Christie Lacy

I’m a biblical counselor, storywork guide, and someone who deeply believes that the places we want to hide are often the very places where Christ desires to meet us with compassion and restoration.

I created this offering out of a burden I’ve carried—for the women who feel stuck in silent pain, for the ones who don’t know where to begin, and for those who were never taught that lament is not weakness but worship.

Through years of sitting with stories (my own and others'), I’ve witnessed this truth repeatedly: Naming your story in the presence of God and others can become a means of healing and hope.

This course is not just content—it’s a guided pilgrimage into the heartache, beauty, and redemption woven into your story. My prayer is that you’ll find not only clarity but connection, not only grief but grace.

You are not too broken to be healed. And you don’t have to do this alone.

I am certified through the Association of Biblical Counselors and have specialized training in:

  • Narrative-Focused Trauma Care (NFTC-I)
  • Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)—an attachment-based, trauma-informed approach designed for vulnerable children
  • Level 2 Certified Christian Trauma Care Provider (CCTCP-II)
  • Certified Enneagram Coach (YEC)

I have been there before—holding stories in my heart, but not knowing how to engage them safely and wisely, not knowing what to do with the emotions I'm feeling, and not knowing how to grieve well.

It wasn't until I started engaging my story in a guided rhythm that I began noticing myths that have kept me from moving forward. My hope for this experience is that you'll come away feeling seen, heard, and known with a heart that feels lighter and more expectant.

My Commitment to You

I believe deeply in the wholeness that comes through storywork and am committed to creating a space that is Christ-centered, emotionally safe, and gently guided. This offering is meant to help you slow down, reflect, and remember your year in the light of Christ’s love and faithfulness.

While we are unable to offer refunds once the course begins , my desire is for you to feel supported and seen throughout this experience.

If at any point you feel uncertain, weary, or unsure how to engage the reflections or journaling prompts, please reach out. I am here to walk with you—to listen, to encourage, and to help you engage the material in a way that feels kind and grounding.

Your story matters. And in this season of sacred remembering, may you come to see how deeply you matter to God.
